  • Should I Lie?

I’m going to be adopted by my stepfather.

When I am adopted, I’ll be issued a new birth certificate with his name listed as my father.

Should I make the government lie for me on a legal document?

  • They give you a new birth certificate?

  • Not sure I understand…How are you lying?

  • that’s not inherently a lie. He becomes your legal father. The birth certificate isn’t inherently to denote biology, but rather legal parentage. I could have been listed on Samuel’s b.c. just by saying I wanted to be, didn’t mean I actually was the father.

However, I still don’t think the birth certificate should be changed, and I’m not sure why they do that at all, when an adoption certificate with the same legal weight should suffice. So no, personally I don’t think it’s how it should be done.

  • @Ghillies_guide - My answer is still, “Who the fuck cares and why should they?” But maybe while they’re at it they can put my race down as African American and I can get some of that Affirmative Action shit going on to get back into college without crippling debt.

  • I say do what you want. There’s no right or wrong here.

  • How old are you again?  You can get adopted as an adult???

AA doesn’t get you the good funding.Putting down Native American get you a lot of free stuff.

  • @sf2slc – I actually am Choctaw they my grandma’s side but unfortunately she was adopted so we don’t have her orignal certificate showing her heritage.

  • @thegunslingergirl - bummer, b/c u will get all kind of scholarships as a native am.  Probably get free ride everywhere.

  • What would that mean to you?  Do you want to be adopted by him?  I figure if you are an adult it should be up to you.
