  • Are you in the military?

My first job was age-appropriate, and I guess I had fun doing it.  Everyone thought I was stupid because I liked it.  I don’t think it’s something that you do once you get old, which is why everyone who stayed in the field became an officer.  Who can run a quarter mile in sand with like 50+ pounds of gear on dragging a cord?  And it was even worse when you had to wear the chem-suit.  I got a lot of annoyance from that field because I was a cold weather hazard because i have raynauds pretty bad.  They made me wear black boots.  It was like the end of the world.  I had to carry around a profile.

My second job was not so much fun.  I got seasick, so I was unable to perform and miserable.  I wish that they could disqualify from our job if they find out that we can’t do it and then do an automatic reclass, or if they would do a testing period before we went to see if we were able to handle the ocean.  They did do a trip on a larger boat and I was okay, but then they put me on a tug boat, and it was bad.  I guess I had fun going to Cuba though.  I like that place and its trees.  That when my friends came out of the water to talk to me.  They said, “we will blur your senses” and then they jumped into my stomach, and they appeared as children in my barracks room for awhile.

To be honest, i spent a year and a half in the active army, a year in training, and half of a year in a mental hospital because I also have schizophrenia.  I remember watching demons run across the ground on Fort Bliss and being like???  I just kind of ignored it for a long time.  Once you realize that you have it, it’s not that big of a deal.  They make it a big deal in our society.  I didn’t realize what voices were until like a few months ago when the doctor explained that they weren’t normal.
