Vacation
Today is my second day in Bethesda, MD. Last night I went to Video Games Live, and let me tell you, the show was phenomenal. I was able to see them when they came to Richmond 4 years ago, and this was the closest place they were playing to me, and so after almost a year of camping out on the website for tickets, I was able to enjoy the show from my comfy box seats! Patience pays off. I was the FIRST person to buy tickets to the show.
The best part of the show was when they had Ralph Baer come on over Skype in the middle of the concert. How awesome is it that we got to "talk" to the guy who INVENTED video games? He's 90 now but he said he had no idea how his invention would evolve and become such an integral part of culture as know it today. "Magic, absolute magic," were his exact words.
Today, we went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, which was just an hour away. I got the best shirt ever:
There were two places we wanted to go to that was featured on the Food Chanel's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" but both of them were closed today on the account of Easter (curse you fertility zombie of everlasting life day!).The only other downside to this whole weekend is the fact that I have a super bad case of the flu. Aches, snot, fever, the whole nine yards. At least I'm on vacation so it doesn't matter if I don't feel well enough to get out of bed, I can just get room service!!!
Best vacation I've had while feeling like absolute crap, ever.

I actually heard about Video Games Live only like 3 days before it was scheduled to be in my city so I missed it =(
Is it a yearly performance?
@justXforXyou_beautiful - I'm not sure about their frequency. I know it's a world wide tour so it takes some time for them to make the rounds. I went 4 years ago when they were in my town, and this one was the closest concert they've had to me in about 2 years. It's really awesome though. I plan to go to as many as I can whenever they are anywhere near me.
Ah! I went to Video Games live in November when they were in Madison, Wisconsin! I can hardly remember a time when I had such a BLAST at a concert!
Sounds like you're having a blast! I wanted to go and take my brother but he couldn't get time off for it. Glad it's awesome and hope you feel better!
Also, you should stop by JBA. fyi.
I've always wanted to go to something like VGL. Hopefully I can catch it next time it comes around.
@Ancient_Scribe - Agreed! I plan on going to as many as I can whenever they are near my area.
@onestepcloserto_perfection - Bummer man. I was so incredibly sick after coming back from the aquarium that I went straight to sleep and when I woke up the next day we had to pack up the car and decided to go home. But! I do plan on going up there again soon to check out the Smithsonian, and we will also be in Baltimore for Otakon in August! My dorm chief from the flight i was with at basic also lives up there and I was going to meet up with her but that didn't happen either. Next time I plan on taking a vacation I'm going to load up on tons of vitamin C before hand...
@Lordv16 - You should! You definitely wouldn't regret it!
@forever_musing - And soup. Soup always helps. Hit me up when you come to the Smithonian. I might be going all the way to Raleigh at the end of May. If that happens I'm inviting myself over on my way through. You're like Richmond, right? We already went over this. I'm just stupid and forget things.
@onestepcloserto_perfection - yup! Richmond! And Raleigh isn't that far! R has family just an hour away so we are down there regularly! it's pretty! and cheaper!
@forever_musing - Okay, so I'll hopefully be going through Richmond next Friday night or Saturday morning. Yeah. If I can take leave. Cuz my brother wants me to take him to GA, and I want to see our friends down there. And we're stopping to visit Gma on the way down in Raleigh. So Richmond is smack dab on the way.
@onestepcloserto_perfection - sweeeeet! keep me updated. i will be getting my schedule for next week tomorrow!
@forever_musing - Wiilllll do!
